AT YOUR WORD LORD
The parish mission week was a great success and we now have several
At Your Word, lord groups up and running in the parish. A group of parishioners
attended to launch mass at Wembley Arena, a truly joyous occassion, where
we gathered with our brothers and sisters from all over the diocese. It
was a proud moment when we saw our banner in the entrance procession.
It is quite extraordinary that we can join with thousands of others
in this process of renewal. This is an opportunity to think a little about
your faith, a chance to ask some questions, a gentle introduction to studying
the scriptures and some ideas about nourishing our prayer lives.
The groups are alrerady bearing fruit and you are welcome to join at
any time.
'What has been a real surprise about At Your Word, Lord was how many
lives it has touched. I met with some friends from another parish and
after about an hour the subject came up. I have never discussed my faith
with them, although we have known each other for years. It added a whole
new dimension to our meeting, instead of chatting about the kids, schools
and the latest TV, there we were discussing our faith. It was wonderful."
'I sometimes wonder what it is all for. What I am realising is, I have
faith and that God loves me. It is good to share that, it makes it seem
more real.'
'Hosting a group is quite an experience. Getting the children's homework
done and then to bed, plus the frantic tidy up. After a couple of weeks
though those things don't seem to matter, it is just great to have such
a nice group, they don't seem to mind the mess and slight chaos. It is
good to grow together, people have shared so honestly about their lives
and faith. It is a privilege tp be part of the group.'
